About Us

Inspired by past generations

Yangennanock: Child Play Therapy was founded by Madison Grey, a dedicated professional who has been working with children and families for over 10 years. Madison’s career began in early childhood education, where she developed a deep understanding of children’s developmental needs. She then transitioned into community services, working closely with vulnerable families and supporting children experiencing complex challenges. These experiences inspired her to help children more deeply with trauma, emotions, and healing, leading her to complete a Master of Child Play Therapy at Deakin University..

Our Story

The name Yangennanock carries personal and cultural significance. Meaning “all welcome” (or “all Koori’s welcome”), it was first established by Madison’s late grandfather when he founded Yangennanock Aboriginal Corporation in the 1980s – the first Aboriginal Corporation in Hamilton, Victoria. His vision was to bring people together and create a sense of unity and support. Madison continues this legacy, carrying the name forward in her work with children and families.

During her postgraduate studies, Madison was drawn back into the early learning sector, recognising how evidence-based play therapy practices could be embedded into early education environments. Today, alongside her therapy practice, she also works as a Centre Director in Hamilton, blending her leadership with her therapeutic expertise to ensure children and families are supported holistically.

Passionate and reflective, Madison is committed to continually improving her practice, dedicating her energy to ensuring every child and family receives the highest quality support. She specialises in Humanistic Child Play Therapy, Learn to Play Therapy, and Filial Play Therapy, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

Humanistic Child Play Therapy
Focuses on creating a safe, accepting environment where children can freely express themselves through play. It emphasises empathy, unconditional positive regard, and supporting the child’s natural ability to heal and grow.

Learn to Play Therapy
Specifically supports children who have difficulties with pretend play, imagination, and social skills. It helps children develop play abilities that are essential for language, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and building relationships.

Filial Play Therapy

Actively involves parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process. Through guided play sessions, caregivers learn how to connect with their child in healing ways, strengthening attachment and empowering families to continue therapeutic benefits at home.

At Yangennanock: Child Play Therapy, we look forward to welcoming you, working alongside your family, and supporting your child’s journey of growth, healing, and connection.
